Balade : le Christomet par les Frasses et le Mont Platard

Wild landscapes, view of the Aravis range and Mont Blanc. When you are at the highest point of the hike, the upper station of the Christomet chairlift, sit near the small oratory to admire the panoramic view.
Topo / step by step

0 / Head by car in the direction of Ball Trap (4km) starting from the foot of Jaillet. Park nearby.

1/ Follow the Christomet sign to the place called Mont Platard via a pleasant wide path

2/ Descend into the woods and mountain pastures. Before arriving at Mont Platard

3/ After a slightly steeper descent, take the path immediately to the right, still in the direction of Christomet. This part of the path is steep up to the place called Covagnet.

4/ The route then becomes gentler to reach the upper station of the Christomet chairlift at the highest point of the hike.

5/ Continue the route following due north the path on the ridge towards the Eperon where you can admire the view of the Croisse-Baulet.
6/ At the first intersection, take a lower right towards Megève via Les Frasses, path in open lawns (black grouse living area).

7/ From there follow the black grouse path upside down which brings you back to the Frasses chalet then to the Ball Trap car park.

8/ Return to the cars in 20 minutes by the paved road to the Christomet chalet or take the path to the left leading to the Jaillet Supérieur and go down by cable car to Megève.

Description

Drive towards the Ball Trap (4km).
Park nearby.

Follow the Christomet sign to a place called Mont Platard via a pleasant wide path then go down into the woods and mountain pastures. Before arriving at Mont Platard, go down a little steeper and take the path immediately towards Christomet. This part of the route is steep up to a place called Covagnet. The route then softens to reach the upper station of the Christomet chairlift at the high point of the hike.

Continue the route by following due north the path on the ridge towards the Eperon where you can admire the view of the Croisse-Baulet. At the first intersection, take a lower right towards Megève via Les Frasses, a path through open lawns (black grouse living area). From there follow the black grouse path in reverse which takes you back to the Chalet des Frasses.

Return to the cars in 20 minutes by the paved road to the Christomet chalet or take the path to the left leading to the Jaillet Supérieur and go down by cable car to Megève.
