Exposition "Murmures des sous-bois"
Saturday July 06 at 15:00 a.m.
Modern and contemporary Arts Space Edith Allard 247 route du Palais des Sports 74120 Megève
In its cultural space at the Palais, Megève presents an exhibition dedicated to Oxaléa, a visual artist excelling in botanical art, who presents her compositions based on plants and natural fibers gleaned from forests.
Born in the Hauts-Plateaux du Vercors, Léa Layeux, alias Oxaléa, learned about life in the forest: the fauna, the species of trees, the plants, the mushrooms. Following training in technical laboratory sciences, plant biology amazed him. She began to create ephemeral compositions with plants, nourished by the opportunity to live in the small protected village of Giettaz in Aravis, on the borders of Val d'Arly. The creation of a “herbarium workshop” made his desire for sharing come true by supporting individuals in the creation of a herbarium after mountain hikes. Deeply convinced that it is urgent to transform the fear of the unknown with a better knowledge of nature in order to preserve it, Oxaléa works to raise awareness and educate through discovery.
His works are above all the result of wonder, a roadside encounter that captures his senses and allows us to see the beauty of the microscopic. Inspired by the arrangement of foliage, grasses or bark, Oxaléa composes paintings from the plants that she respectfully collects. The subject is teasing, sometimes indirect and subtle but deals with certainty our relationship with nature. His words are determined and luminous: “It is time to observe what is at our feet
before rolling his eyes to the sky. »
At the heart of the exhibition, the artist leads two workshops on creating a herbarium for children and gilding plants with gold leaf for older children.
